Moving from self-managed infrastructure to a sovereign HDS PaaS

Madietenligne is a platform designed for dietitians. Since 2020, it has supported healthcare professionals in managing consultations, patient records and daily tools. Previously operated on self-managed infrastructure, with files stored on Azure, the platform needed a simpler and more automated hosting model that would allow Madietenligne to rely on HDS-certified hosting for its health data.

A healthcare platform developed in-house

Created during the pandemic, Madietenligne built and operated its entire platform internally from day one. This includes:

  • video consultations,
  • document sharing,
  • patient record management,
  • automated SMS and email reminders.

The core platform ran on self-managed infrastructure, while its files were stored separately on Azure. As the platform grew, now used by more than 2,500 dietitians,  maintaining the infrastructure became increasingly demanding: zero-downtime deployments, server configuration, monitoring, version upgrades and data reversibility. Madietenligne needed to reduce the time spent on operations while relying on a suitable hosting environment that would enable it to meet HDS compliance requirements.

Compliance and simplification at the core

To support its growth, the platform needed to:

  • rely on an HDS-certified provider for the hosting of its health data,
  • ensure encryption at rest for database and file storage,
  • guarantee 24/7 service continuity despite constant reminders being sent,
  • reduce operational workload,
  • rely on a sovereign infrastructure located in France.

Why Madietenligne chose Clever Cloud

In late 2024, Eddy Montus benchmarked several PaaS providers. The decision criteria were clear: performance, HDS, and French sovereignty. Clever Cloud met all three requirements, with a clear and transparent HDS contract.

The choice was simple: it had to be performant, HDS and French. So we went with Clever Cloud.

Customer support also played a key role. Many technical questions emerged during the migration, all addressed promptly at the start of each day.

A fast migration with no noticeable downtime

The full migration, both test and production environments, took less than two weeks. It involved:

  • transferring and synchronising 500 GB of documents,
  • converting files previously stored on Azure,
  • deploying PHP and Node applications via GitHub,
  • managing CRON jobs and monitoring on the PaaS.

The DNS switch was the only potential interruption. For end-users, the transition was seamless.

We migrated all test and production environments in under 15 days. Each time, support replied within the day.

Immediate benefits and simpler HDS hosting operations

By migrating to Clever Cloud, Madietenligne moved its health data to an HDS-certified hosting environment while significantly reducing its operational workload.

Key outcomes include:

  • health data hosted within Clever Cloud’s HDS-certified environment, with encryption at rest enabled when the database was created;
  • simplified operations: no more NGINX configuration or fragile scripts;
  • reliable, zero-downtime deployments, thanks to automatic swap and validation;
  • responsive support, especially during migration;
  • future-ready infrastructure, with autoscaling available if needed.

All I had to do was encrypt the files on the storage space. And that’s it — we’re HDS, which feels almost magical.

A sovereign and sustainable infrastructure to support future growth

With a sovereign, automated and easier-to-maintain HDS environment, Madietenligne can now focus on improving its product. The platform continues to grow in France and abroad, while maintaining a high level of security and regulatory compliance for health data.

French Managed Kubernetes: What Are the Alternatives to Hyperscalers in 2026?

French managed Kubernetes services provide organisations with European alternatives to AWS EKS, Google GKE and Azure AKS. OVHcloud, Scaleway and Clever Cloud now offer such services on infrastructure located in France or elsewhere in Europe. However, choosing a French managed Kubernetes service involves more than server location: the infrastructure model, the division of operational responsibilities and integration with other cloud services are equally important.
This article compares the three offerings and outlines the key criteria for making a decision.
